Since September 2020, the team at LDC have been undertaking the complete works involving extensive reinstatement works to the fire-damaged property, where 22 out of the 92 apartments were affected by fire.  The focus of the works has been on the high-quality refurbishment of a combination of 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom luxury apartments with balconies and conservatories overlooking the River Clyde.

The meticulous restoration of the fire-damaged homes has required extensive stakeholder engagement to ensure that each apartment was designed to the owners’ exact specifications and approval.   Working closely with project management specialists NIXON who delivered a full suite of services, the dedicated LDC specialist team sought a detailed understanding of each owner’s particular design, allowing for the delivery the quality of both workmanship and product throughout the project duration.

Due to its busy city centre location and neighbouring residents, the project also required carefully planned and managed logistics.  The collaborative team were able to overcome the challenges presented through excellent forward planning and engagement with Glasgow City Roads Department and supply chain contractors with crane requirements.

Ryan Broadley, Managing Director, Linear Design & Construct, said, “Lancefield Quay is an iconic property on the banks of the Clyde and its restoration is a key part of maintaining this prestigious building, so we’re delighted to have played our part in bringing it back to its former glory and providing the homeowners with an exceptional end product. This completion represents a milestone for the team and continues to showcase our knowledge, skill and expertise, working with great partners to achieve the optimal result.  I am extremely proud with the quality of the work we’ve been able to deliver for the affected homeowners after such an awful experience with the fire in 2019.  We wish them all well in their restored properties for many years to come.”

Project Manager and Director at NIXON, Dominic MacConnell, added: “We would like to thank all the partners, in particular, our appointed principal contractor, Linear Design & Construct, which worked with us to bring this project to completion as we restored this landmark site.  At the start of the project, we could never have anticipated that we would be dealing with a pandemic and yet everyone in their respective teams came together to restore the apartments and return residents to their homes.”
