Since establishing Linear Projects, over 30 years ago, the Group has taken a progressive approach to evolution, expanding its footprint, its expertise and its teams in line with clear ambitions, client needs and market opportunities.

1993
John Holmes Contractors established; a labour only company with 20 tradesmen, offering dry lining and suspended ceilings. First client signed up and remains sole focus for nine years.
2002
Stephen Holmes appointed Managing Director.
2003
Business evolves into Linear Projects and takes on its first supply and fit project.
2004
Appointed to our first project over £250k and turnover tops £1m.
2007
Awarded Forth Valley Acute Hospital contract valued at £11m – the first of many major Healthcare Projects for Linear Projects.
2008
Business moves to a new office in Queenslie, Glasgow and expansion heads across the Border with the opening of a new Manchester Office. On the staff front, Gareth Holmes, Dale Zahra and Tommy Steele are appointed as Directors and tradesmen numbers increase to 150.
2010
Turnover tops £5m.
2011
Accreditation achieved ISO 9001 & ISO 14001, CHAS.
2015
Accreditations strengthened with ISO9001 & 14001, Achillies, BM Trada Fire Door, FSC®(FSC-C143372), Considerate Contractors, Constructionline, FIRAS & SSIP.
2016
Turnover exceeds £10m and office space doubles. Now working with over 200 tradesmen.
2017
Largest project to date secured with Robertson Group – Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre, valued at £20m. Client list now includes ISG, Kier, Laing O’Rourke, Morgan Sindall, Morrison, Multiplex, Overbury, Robertson & Sir Robert McAlpine.
2018
As turnover hits £19m, office space grows to 4,500 sq ft and offering extends to include Passive Fire Protection service and decoration.
Linear Design & Construct (LDC), launches and becomes part of Linear Group, with Ryan Broadley joining as Managing Director, Scotland.
Founding company Linear Projects was established in 1993 and becomes a founding member of Linear Group.
2019
Turnover hits the £25m mark, as staff numbers are boosted to 80.
First two significant projects awarded for LDC from Lothian in Edinburgh and South Ayrshire Council.
1st Anniversary of LDC sees staff levels reach 15.
2020
Linear Projects contribute £26m to a Group Turnover of £32m.
LDC Manchester secures 5 projects in its first 6 months totalling £4.5m pushing the team to up to 9 members.
Founding company Linear Projects established in 1993. Linear Building Compliance launches and becomes part of Linear Group, with Andrew Shankland moving in to the role of Managing Director.
2021
Linear Projects take up residence in a Yorkshire Office.
Staff number increase to 36 and turnover set to top £30m.
Staff number increases to 11 and 10 projects delivered for 6 clients.
Founding company Linear Projects established in 1993. Linear Fire Safety launches and becomes part of Linear Group 82 Clients being serviced UK wide.
Linear Living is established, offering premium and affordable housing in Scotland and the North West of England.
2022
Scottish business moves to a new state of the art office in Maxim Park, Eurocentral
2023
Linear Celebrates 30 Years and secures the largest development to date Trafford Gardens
