Essa Academy Trust commits to future expansion.
Following a multi-million pound investment from Bolton Council, LDC was appointed to help Essa Academy fulfil its vision to provide enhanced facilities and capacity for up to 200 more pupils from across the borough by 2024.
As part of a two-month project, the team created a new state of the art laboratory and teaching space, as well as construct a new feature staircase leading to the atrium area. Internal alteration works also included the refurbishment of school offices, science classrooms, food technology classrooms and installation of a structural steelwork staircase to the atrium. Works were predominantly carried out during live, occupied school hours, which involved meticulous planning to ensure no unplanned interruptions to Academy operations.
Martin Knowles, Principal of Essa Academy, said, “Over the past two years our numbers have significantly increased which is great news for the Academy and its teaching record. Now with the planned expansion we can take things a step further and grow further to offer space for even more young people. The work LDC will undertake will make an enormous difference to both the school facilities and our pupils ,and we are grateful to the Council for their support in enabling this project.”
