LDC completes Airdrie Schools expansion

The Design & Build project with hub South West, on behalf of North Lanarkshire Council, involved the addition of extension to the primary school campus.

Appointed to the project in July 2020, LDC managed the entire project from inception to design conclusion with their Design Team, JM Architects  and Blyth & Blyth (Structural & M&E).   Working collaboratively, the team’s commitment and professionalism ensured the project was handed over on time with zero defects in December 2020.

Throughout the duration of the project the work was carried out in a live environment so required carefully managed and coordinated logistics.  Additionally the use of Snag-master technology for quality assurance greatly assisted with close-out of defects on a trade by trade basis.

Commenting on the completion, Ryan Broadley, Managing Director, Linear Design & Construct, said, “We are delighted to hand over the project with zero defects on time and also to see another vital education project completed to such a high standard.  We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with  the teams at hub SW and North Lanarkshire Council to bring this to fruition and look forward to working together again on future projects”

Michael McBrearty, Chief Executive, hub South West added, “It’s fantastic to see the extension of All Saints & Rochsolloch Primary School now complete. Pupils and staff can now benefit from an updated and more functional space that will enhance the learning environment.  We have collaborated frequently with North Lanarkshire on education and early years developments and are therefore delighted to have worked with LDC to deliver this interesting project on Council’s behalf.”

Now complete, the extension has provided two extra classrooms to All Saints, whilst an internal courtyard space was reconfigured at adjoining Rochsolloch to create a further room.  The new space will increase Rochsolloch’s permanent capacity to 313 pupils from its current 255, while All Saints’ pupil roll capacity will increase by 66 places to a potential 305.
