Restoring Heritage, Enriching Community: Reviving a Former Library into a Beacon of Early Years Learning and Community Hub
Linear were appointed by hub West and East Dunbartonshire Council to carefully refurbish and restore the prestigious former library located on Drymen Road in Bearsden. The remodelled building has created space for Early Years provisions as well as full community use, managed by EDC Place & Business. Our team, along with our specially selected and local supply chain, began work in October 2022 to begin meticulously repairing the external stone work and detailing around the windows, as well as replacing the entire roof and creating an external ramp for full accessibility. The project has also allowed us to engage and collaborate with a host of community initiatives and local education facilities, delivering a suite of community benefits such as STEM events, engagement with Bearsden Primary School, Careers workshops and volunteering.
