St Leonards, Lancaster Gate

St Leonards at Lancaster Gate sees the redevelopment of a pair of adjoining, grade 2 listed buildings, one Victorian and the other a late 1970’s concrete structure, to create 179 residential student flats split into self-contained studios and en-suite bedrooms.

 

This revitalisation of former council offices will provide state of the art student accommodation over six floors with considerable living space, recreational areas and communal kitchens.

With interiors designed by NORR architects, the conversion will revitalise this historic building by retaining many of its original features while providing high-quality, modern accommodation.

Given the location of the project there is a high acoustic requirement associated with the project which differs from with traditional residential build. By combining  the specialist build ability and expertise of Linear Projects with Robertson’s meticulous design criteria, the solution ensures the most cost effect and economical acoustics in line with the necessary performance requirements. This had to be achieved whilst simultaneously ensuring that both the programme and accommodation dimensional areas where delivered as planned to a high standard.

The Linear Projects team delivered dry lining, ceilings, plaster skim and substrate flooring.  The high acoustic needs of the project have also required the achievement of the most cost effect and economical solutions to meet the necessary performance

The development is due to be completed for the start of the 2019/20 academic year.

The build sequence and design changes to keep other trades working productively was managed extremely well with Linear and credit to the onsite team lead by Dale Zahra,  plus all involved from the site distribution team to their fitters.  Nothing was too much trouble was Linear’s approach in a very complex build in a limited time
