Beginning his career in construction within his family’s business, Stephen has remained at the heart of this business and now operates as CEO. His commitment to an honest and thoughtful approach is reflected in all aspects of the business today
With over 30 years’ experience, Stephen was appointed Managing Director of Linear Projects with a clear vision to develop the business into a full supply and fit out company working directly with leading main contractors across the UK.
Appointed CEO of Linear UK Group in 2018, Stephen oversees both Linear Projects and Linear Design & Construct with a clear focus on both short and long-term planning and decision making. Working with the senior management team, Stephen helps drive the evolution of the business, its people and its projects to the very highest standards he sets for the Group.
Scott worked for some of the UK’s leading principal contractors, focusing very much on the commercial aspects of project development and delivery.
In 2017, Scott was appointed Commercial Director of Linear Group to oversee the commercial strategy for the group. In this role, his focus is varied and touches on all aspects of the operation. From managing risk, compliance and budgeting, to optimising bid offers and leading negotiations, Scott calls on his commitment to collaboration and honesty to ensure the right values and behaviours are embedded into the organisation.
Scott works closely with all the Project Managers to ensure he has visibility and insight into the numerous projects ongoing at any one time. This enables him to adopt a value adding and diligent perspective, focused on quality and efficient client delivery.
With a diverse construction career spanning over 31 years, Andrew began his career in construction as a joiner before gaining a BSc in Construction Management. From here his career developed as he worked his way into management from Site Foreman to Project Director. Working on projects valued from £50k to £800m, Andrew has managed the delivery of many varied projects across contracting and sub-contracting to the highest standard.
Prior to joining Linear, Andrew worked for main contractors, Lilley Construction, Ashliegh and Laing O Rourke. During this period, he worked within a variety of sectors including education, healthcare, residential, commercial and retail. Following this, he joined a large London based drylining contractor where he delivered three large scale healthcare projects across the UK.
Andrew joined Linear in early 2018 as Project Director with responsibility for all aspects of client relationship management from start to finish. He was also heavily involved in compiling tenders for a range of projects, which will be led from tender to completion. With a commitment to a consistently honest approach with a clear focus on reliability and diligence, Andrew showed great capability across quality control; risk management; team leadership; sustainability; stakeholder engagement and overall planning.
Following his promotion to Managing Director of Linear Building Compliance (LBC) in 2020, he is now tasked with developing the business. This will see him focused on leading and managing the team to drive forward the capability and reputation across safety, quality and delivery throughout LBC.
Beginning her career in procurement in 2006, Julie transitioned to Quantity Surveying in 2008 and achieved her MRICS status three years later. Bringing diverse experience from both Laing O’Rourke and Iberdrola, Julie joined Linear Projects in 2017 as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and went on to forge her career as a key member of the team, making a strong contribution to a number of key projects.
In 2020, Julie took up the role of Commercial Manager for the newly formed Linear Building Compliance. In this position she oversees the commercial management of the business projects focused on protecting and optimising the Group’s commercial position, alongside maximising value and minimising cost from project commencement to completion. Julie is also pivotal in the preparation of bids for new business opportunities and contract negotiation. She brings great skill and capability in identifying risks and opportunities, client relationship management, contractual budgets, issue resolution and reporting and compliance management.
Julie is committed to continual improvement and development, which can be seen through her training and support to junior members of commercial team, alongside her investment in providing RICS training for Quantity Surveyors seeking chartered status.
Following an HNC in Construction Management, Martin carved his career in the specialist area of door sets. Working for Doorworks Ltd as Factory Manager for seven years, he acquired first-hand understanding of the manufacturing process which let him to join for Leaderflush Shapland (formerly T.D.S.L. Ltd). In his role as Project Manager he was involved in major projects including Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow, Forth Valley Hospital and New Victoria Hospital.
Joining Linear Projects in 2014, Martin brought over 18 years of experience and expertise. His role saw him ensure that all projects progressed safely and efficiently from design through to completion. Working closely with suppliers, Martin consistently utilised his own knowledge to the benefit and value of the clients.
With extensive qualifications and experience in the specialist area of fire doors, Martin has provided expertise across both installation and maintenance. As a certified Fire Door Inspector, he can confidently ensure that the detailed specifications of doors are optimised for fire resistance, and also identify where this standard is not met and requires rectification.
Working across a number of Linear’s major projects over the past six years has seen Martin involved in the door set provision for ScottishPower HQ and The Events Complex Aberdeen (TECA) including the Hilton and A-Loft Hotel elements.
Now expanding his remit with the newly-formed Linear Building Compliance, Martin will broaden his support to this specialist team focusing on existing properties, as well as driving awareness and understanding amongst clients. His far reaching role will ensure existing projects and clients will benefit from the highest standard of installation, adhering to stringent manufacturer guidelines.
Passionate and supportive, Martin works collaboratively with colleagues and clients to ensure the optimal impact and outcome.
With over 20 years’ experience in construction, William has honed his specialist skills in the area of quality engineering. Starting his career as a Passive Fire Protection and Contracts Manager, he acquired first-hand knowledge of this vital area. In extending his capability, William has an NVQ in Level 2 in Passive Fire and Dry Lining plus a FDIS Diploma in Fire Doors and is a NVQ A1 Assessor and an ISO9001 Internal Auditor.
As a Quality Engineer for Alstom Power, William expanded his knowledge where compliance was central to every aspect of the power sector. This meant a strong focus on auditing, training, equipment, calibration and record management. Following this he moved to work for Warrington Certification as a FIRAS Inspector which involved strong communication skills in dealing with FIRAS accredited companies in Scotland and Northern England.
Joining Linear in 2018, William took up the post of FIRAS & Site Quality Assurance Manager bringing his strong attention to detail and hands on experience to the benefit of Linear clients and projects. This role has seen William consistently identify both risks and opportunities with performance specification through the tender process and during construction works, and being able to offer tailored assistance and advice to ensure full compliance in line with regulations.
Now as part of the LBC team, William continues to provide his vital expertise and understanding of compliance, alongside driving the highest standards and focus on optimal quality assurance.
With 34 years’ trade experience covering all aspects of joinery, Martin has extensive expertise from site management to installation and compliance. Having acquired a range of qualifications, including FIRAS Diplomas in Fire Doors and Ceiling Partitions and a Fire Protection Certificate, his knowledge in this area is hugely valuable and far-reaching.
Prior to joining Linear Projects in 2018, Martin was a subcontractor and foreman joiner, as well as running his own building company for nine years. His role as a Project Manager with TDSL at Forth Valley Hospital gave him further valuable hands-on experience and insight, as did his role as Contracts Manager for a joinery fit-out company.
With a clear focus on door set and bespoke installations, Martin has been involved in some of Linear’s key projects including the Hilton and A-Loft Hotels at The Event Complex Aberdeen.
As a member of the LBC team, Martin’s strong understanding of door and fire door installation will ensure the optimal solutions for existing projects, as well as new clients. His diligent and dependable approach ensures he is able to identify the needs of compliance whilst also recognising where doors fail to meet these standards.
A career joiner, James has over 18 years’ experience of all aspects of carpentry and joinery. Beginning with a SVQ qualification, he went on to acquire a broad array of additional accolades including FDIS Diploma, FIRAS Door Maintenance, FIRAS Partitions/Ceilings and the Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
James progressed his career working for a housebuilding company where he spent four years honing his skills. He then went on to join Leaderflush Shapland before setting up and running his own joinery business.
Before joining Linear as a full time, permanent member of the team in 2019, James worked for the business in a self-employed capacity. Over the last six years, his involvement has included work on a number of major projects including Gorbals Health Centre, Scottish Power, KPMG and Edinburgh St. James, where his expertise in doors has been of particular value to these high profile projects.
Now as part of the newly-formed Linear Building Compliance, James will focus his efforts on door inspections, installation and maintenance for existing and new Linear clients.
With an assertive and committed attitude, James uses his skills and experience to ensure consistent versatility in dealing with colleagues, clients and projects.
John Holmes Contractors established as a labour only company with 20 tradesmen, offering dry lining and suspended ceilings.
Business moves to a new office in Queenslie, Glasgow and expansion heads across the Border with the opening of a new Manchester office. On the staff front, Gareth Holmes, Dale Zahra and Tommy Steele are appointed as Directors and tradesmen numbers increase to 150.
