LDC Scotland secures second & third phase of Gretna Gateway retail refurbishment

Following the successful completion of the initial phase of the refurbishment of Gretna Gateway
Retail Village, the team at LDC have secured the additional development phases, which will conclude
the full refurbishment and new build extensions.

Phase 2 continues the refurbishment of the entire Retail Village with new shopfronts and public
realm works. Phase 3 includes three new build extensions to the front of the mall increasing the size
due to the retail villages popularity.

Built from the design vision created by Urban Edge Architecture, the modernisation plans include
installing timber façade treatments to the units, adding canopies and enhancing the public realm.

The LDC team have undertaken considerable planning of these works, to ensure that the large retail
outlet can trade as normal, taking into account people and traffic movements. This has seen the
installation of temporary roads and hoardings as well as the relocation of bus routes to ensure that
the public is at a safe distance whilst the construction develops.

Ryan Broadley, Managing Director, LDC Scotland, “We are delighted to have extended our work at
Gretna, following on from the successful delivery of the first phase. Despite the complexities of a
live site and challenges of COVID 19, we’ve been able to continue to deliver our works professionally
and safely through tight site logistics, strong stakeholder engagement and a well-managed fast track
programme.”

On completion in November 2021, the refurbishment will see an overhaul of the Village with
significant restyling and revitalisation designed to enhance the shopping experience. This will also
see the addition of new premium super brands and an enhanced dining offer to further strengthen
the site as a must-visit destination.

Opened in 1999, Gretna Gateway has become a firm favourite with shoppers who love designer
brands, with millions of visitors from far and wide. The Village includes top brands like Hugo Boss,
Ralph Lauren, Adidas and M&S
