NIXON has appointed LDC to undertake the complete works at Lancefield Quay on Glasgow’s riverside.
The project management firm are leading the reinstatement works to the fire-damaged property, where 24 out of the 92 apartments were affected by fire in late 2019.
LDC will work alongside the multidisciplinary team, which is providing architectural and civil & structural engineering services as well as quantity surveying and project management throughout the two-year project. The 48-week construction programme will see the LDC team re-build the fire damaged luxury properties overlooking the River Clyde.
The properties are a combination of one, two and three bedroom apartments with balconies and conservatories. It has been vital for the team to carefully plan the project logistics due to its busy city centre location and neighbouring residents. This involves mobile crane operations for reinstatement of the structure and external envelope trades, followed by internal fit-out to the highest of standards.
Nixon Project Director, Dominic MacConnell said, “We have successfully completed the first phase of demolition works at Lancefield Quay and we are now moving on to the next phase of reinstatement works. Following a competitive tender, Linear Design and Construct has been appointment as the main contractor and we look forward to working with them to complete the restoration of this landmark riverside building. We anticipate residents will be welcomed back to their homes in Autumn 2021 as we navigate through unprecedented times.”

Originally a quayside transit store built in 1947, Lancefield Quay was converted in the late eighties as part of an urban renewal plan for the city and is well-regarded as a significant landmark along the River Clyde.
